About Fresh Take

Buffalo’s East Side has been disproportionately affected during the COVID-19 pandemic, largely due to preexisting health conditions within these neighborhoods. In response to the concerning health disparities exposed by this crisis, Buffalo Go Green (BGG) is partnering with numerous private, government, and non-profit partners to carry out Fresh Take Healthy Meal Access Initiative (‘Fresh Take’).

To increase the health of our neighbors through nutrition education and non-processed foods, Fresh Take provides healthy, affordable and accessible prepared meals to the underserved communities of Buffalo. All meals are culturally appropriate and nutritious, with carefully-labeled ingredients sourced from local rural and urban farms, particularly from farmers and artisans of color. This allows us to provide proper meals to those in need, working to waylay additional health disparities while supporting our local farmers with orders above what they would normally receive, ultimately allowing for economic growth and opportunity.

Some meals are delivered door-to-door, while others can be purchased from participating local corner stores and churches (see all of our locations here). They are delivered to these locations every Thursday by 3:00pm. Since the meals are pre-packaged for reheating at home, EBT/SNAP can be used for purchases.

Please join us in assisting others to stay fresh with Fresh Take!
